I lift the silver chain
a present from my husband
from the box
The sun glints off the cross
The cross
The cross that means so much
yet so little to some
Jesus' sacrifice
I wear
as a symbol
of my faith
My beliefs
My way of life
His sacrifice
For me
For you
For us
I wear it not lightly
for around my neck
it has meaning
To me
And maybe
In my own little way
I can be a witness
for Him

Yes I think many take it too lightly or don't think about what it means. I am glad you do
ReplyDeleteVery sweet, CM.
ReplyDeleteImportant to act on your faith as it, within you, dictates.
ReplyDeletei think the tangible symbols, when taken seriously by the wearer do help remind us...
ReplyDeleteThis is so very pretty, touches my heart and memorable.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, my friend.

:) Beautifully said and lived.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a wonderful reminder to me of the fact that I want people to see Him in me when I wear mine.
ReplyDeleteLove your post!
I love your poems! so beautiful and meaningful!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteLoved this! We share this in common. When I put my crucifix around my neck it is intentional. I know exactly why and Who I'm wearing it for. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Hey there my sister in work, and my sister in Christ. Just popping in to surprise you. Glad to hear you and your family are well.
ReplyDeleteI haven't blogged now in about a year and a half or so. I lost interest, and frankly, just don't have the time either. I haven't read any either, and my being here now is a rather spontaneous decision to stop in and visit some of my ole blogging friends.
I'm looking for another job, and when the right opportunity comes along, I'm going to officially retire. The rotating shifts are taking their toll on me and my body.
I'm still playing softball, even at my age.....on two teams, including our new team at Work.....our name is "Blue Crew".
Again, glad to hear you are safe and well.
Nice poem. It illuminates the saving work of Jesus.
