3 things to NOT do when you start a new job:
1. Don’t arrive so early on your first day that you set the alarm off on the building. (No I didn’t, but I almost did.)
2. Don’t assume that after 15 years in your profession you know everything…you will inevitably be proven wrong.
3. Don’t lock the bathroom key in your office.
Anywho….I’m tired. I’m learning a lot. I’m being challenged and pulled in several different directions at once. But you know what? I like it. I like being challenged again. I feel the neurons in my brain being exercised and that’s a good thing.
In our staff meeting, I told everyone that I want to be a good boss. Is that being too honest? I don’t care, it’s the truth.
Once I got home last night, my kids were starving so I made scrambled eggs before changing out of my uniform. Cubbie was turning on my flashlight and trying to play with my radio. Is that normal? I have no idea. I guess it is my new normal.
Did I mention I’m tired?
The best part of my day…being able to take my hair out of my ponytail, snuggle up with my boys on the couch, and mindlessly watch Dora or Backyardigans or the Weather Channel (kidding on that one.)

It will be uncomfortable before it gets completely comfortable.
I'm looking forward to the learning of the new, or maybe not.
Yay, for you!
You will make a GREAT boss because you care enough to want to!!
Glad to hear that your feeling good about all the change taking place in your life. Change can sometimes be a good thing!!
smiles. so sounds like some fun filled days...and not too bad evenings...backyardigans are pretty cool!
The most important thing is that you like it!!! The rest will fall into place and this will quickly become your new normal! :)
The duty belt is Off Limits to our little ones...though, the little belt clips tend to wander every now and then. Ah...the radio. The Boy--then 3--accidently activated the SOS button. On Christmas morning. Yeah...that was fun. Frantic radio traffic and phone calls, but it was all sorted out within minutes. Poor little guy. The radio is never within their reach, it just happened to be on the table simply because on our way home we were going to swing by the depot so Daddy could pick up his cruiser that had been in for pm's.
You'll do great...stuff will start falling into place! It's funny how we find ourselves stretching when we swore just a minute ago we couldn't stretch any further. :)
Keys have also been known to get locked in the company car. Just sayin'.
I think it is wonderful that you are enjoying your new job and are being challenged. I respect a boss who is open and honest!
I used to love snuggling with my little guy and watching Nickelodeon!
On my first day at work a couple of months ago, I totally messed up the paperwork for the parents! And I thought being a preschool teacher would be easy...
Better then locking yourself in the bathroom!!!
Glad that you are liking it!
sounds like a full day - exhausting but enjoyable
i bet you'll be a good boss
Sounds like you've had quite a time. You are already a good boss and telling them is great.
Have you seen Storm Stories on the Weather Channel? So worth watching!
New things always take some time to adjust to
First day is over.......Now you can relax and get into the job!
What is your job?
Good Luck......You'll be a GREAT Boss!
I know you will be great at whatever you set out to do! Good luck!
