A Pumpkin Patch Poem

Off to the pumpkin patch we go

But I’m Mr. Grumpy

Because the ground is bumpy

And over the pumpkin vines I trip and slip

So Mama puts my life in my brother’s hands

I am NOT amused!

But then I see it…

a sandbox filled with corn!

And I again am in true form

My normal happy Cubbie self!

G'eve sweet CM ~ What adorable!!!! pics of the kid-lings. I love the poem to accompany them in their visit ... they sure had a great time, I so love looking at their eyes, tells the story every time.

I didn't get to take our kid-lings to the pumpkin patch because of my allergy issues this year, sniff!!

**A summer kitchen was used ... way back when ... by both the slaves, & later on by the farmers, to keep the heat out of the house. Often it might be over a creek or near a creek where they would put the foods to stay cool (ya know when there were no fridges, chuckle!).
Usually they were built under a tree to help cut down on the heat, also. They would carry the food into the house to serve. The bldgs. were simple structures with a fireplace to cook in, a rough wood counter or tables, occasionally you'll find a wee cupboard & cooking utensils/pots, a stool by the fireplace or a simple chair. They were very utilitarian.
Simple times ...

Have a beautiful eve, sweet friend.

We haven't made it to the pumpkin farm yet this year! I think it's an apple orchard we've gone to that has a corn crib for the kids to play in. I wonder if I have pictures? Now I'll have to go have a look in my files!
