Sometimes, I feel alone in our choice to not vaccinate our boys. However, after all the wonderful comments and emails I received, I see that many of YOU are trying to find an alternative approach too.
(Disclaimer: NOT giving medical advice, just my own opinion.)
Here are two good resources I would recommend:
“Vaccinations, A Thoughtful Parent’s Guide” by Aviva Jill Romm. This book has one of the most balanced views on the subject. We refer to it regularly.
The National Vaccine Information Center website is also a very helpful resource. Another website that is more general regarding natural health is Mercola.
Also, to answer a few questions:
1. No, our boys have not received ANY vaccinations.
2. Now, neither my husband nor I get the flu shot or tetanus or any other shot that doctors claim you need on a regular basis. Before meeting my DH and knowing better, I use to get the tetanus shot every however many years and the flu shot every year. I also use to take the birth control pill before learning the truth about it.
2. I was asked about antibiotics. Our boys have never had any infection that would require one. They have had colds and fevers, but never a bacterial infection. Even with a fever, we don’t automatically give Children’s Tylenol. There’s a threshold we hold out to, but I don’t want to state it here for fear of sounding like I’m giving medical advice. We also do not use any form of cough medicine, just natural alternatives.
I hope I’m not coming across as a “know it all” or trying to force my views on anyone. I’m only letting you all know what decision we have arrived at. Like I said in my last post, do YOUR research, work with YOUR doctor, and make your OWN educated choices that you feel the most comfortable with.

Thanks for this post! I appreciate the resources and will definitely do more research for myself and to decide what my husband and I feel comfortable with.
thanks for the intel CM...i find it interesting that they have never needed them...and did not get the vacine...hmm...correlation?
think it's not an easy decision to make - and i like that you are very careful and sensitive in your writing about it.
my daughter who is in bolivia right now had lots of vaccinations before she left - and i wonder if they are all necessary...
Many thanks CM. We have the same views as you (as far as I can tell). I regularly refer to both sites you mention, but have not read the book. I am ordering it today. Thanks so much.
some how I did not know this side of you but I LOVE it.

Thanks. I tread lightly when it comes to controversial issues. I don't want to make waves. I just want to inform other parents that they have a choice!
Thanks for sharing! love Mercola's site, but have not seen the book you mentioned. Both our girls are also not vaccinated and have never needed antibiotics. God bless - Holly
I appreciate your point of view. My children have had their vaccinations, but looking back I might have spaced them out a bit more (not 4 or 5 at one well baby check-up). I do believe it was important for our family to have them due to our daughter's heart condition. Last year she was the only one in our family to get the H1N1 vaccine, purely on her cardiologist's recommendation. Otherwise she wouldn't have, and no one else in our family did. She is more prone to infections - ear infections, pneumonia, upper respiratory - so I think whooping cough and the like would be very , very detrimental to her. I think it's great that your boys are so healthy and you are making informed choices for them - every family is different!
