The Reason I Write

I am not ashamed

To tell my story

Because I know

There are others out there

Who keep silent

Or are kept silent

And I am here

To say

YOU are not alone

Whatever your past

YOU choose your future

but not until

You forgive yourself

And LIVE!

Author’s note: I must say Thank YOU for all your wonderful comments on my last post about my mom’s alcoholism and my search for answers. I felt a need to explain why I write about such personal things, so when I saw the theme for Theme Thursday was “Reason”, I couldn’t resist linking up.

PS. I promise a more upbeat post tomorrow! :-)

Often the sweetest things, leave a bitter after taste.

This has been on my heart again lately. I think there are many reasons people chose to write/blog and no one reason is the 'right' or 'wrong' answer.
For me, as a writer, I need to settle this in my heart before I can truly write from my heart. That is when authenticity comes.
Bless you,
:)
p.s. I intend to get to the post office soon. Thanks for your patience and grace.

This reason is precisely the reason I so enjoy reading certain blogs.

a very touching poem!
I like what you said about forgiving and living, that is the way things should be, then happiness and contentment become our daily bread.

Forgiving yourself is especially important in this life. There are none of us so perfect that we can't find something about ourselves to forgive. First, though, we must lift that horrid weight called "guilt" off our shoulders and fling it into the abyss.

I like your words, especially the last lines.

For me, although most of my writings are memoir-based, I write for me. And it's for myself I put my work out there - it's that that has allowed me to forgive myself and to live. Of course, I am that chuffed when I see that others get something from my writing... :)

I really think it's therapeutic to write it down and sometimes airing it publicly is just what's needed to free yourself. :)

AMEN! Good for you. I've always wondered what makes one person pull through and become a better, stronger person while another, in the same circumstances, collapse...
