Sprout was so excited about going back to preschool! This is his second year, since he’s 4. Next year, he’ll start Kindergarten.
The church preschool he attends requires a parent to accompany their child on the first day, for the entire time. Last year, I couldn’t get the day off and my husband went.
So this year…
I was excited to go to preschool too! I managed to take a vacation day at work.
And guess what? Sprout actually smiled for the picture! Maybe it had something to do with Daddy taking the picture…or just his excitement.
It was so fun to spend the 2 1/2 hours with him singing songs, listening during storytime, and letting him run wild on the playground. Then, when it came time to simulate pick up time, they made us parents leave the room…and Sprout started crying! Ugh, talk about break my heart! Luckily, it was short lived. He was all smiles when he saw me again.

Such a special day. I 'kind of' look forward to Owen going to school when I see all these posts from moms, but then again, I want him to stay little forever :)

oh those moments are heartbreaking...glad you got to have a bit of fun with him though..its going to be alright...smiles.
They grow up so fast. It's great that you were able to get time off and go with him. And you are doing the right thing by taking pictures for memories to keep the day forever.
P.S. It's nice to see your comfort level going up. This is the first we've seen the real you.
I loved helping out in preschool with all 4 of my kids. It was a co-op, so parents took turns being the aide for the teacher, about 3-4 times a semester. I still sing the songs, even though my oldest is now 7th grade! So glad you got to go with him this time!!
How sweet! So glad you got to take him, but hate that he cried. Hope he doesn't cry when you drop him off. This was my oldest's first year in preschool and he loves it but it about killed me taking him. It's hard watching them grow up.
Oh, how cute! He has a precious smile. James couldn't wait for his mommy to leave...and I wanted to stay. I wish they had the "parent on the first day" routine at his school!

reminded me of when i first brought my eldest daughter to kindergarten - she didn't like it so much and to hear her crying just broke my heart...
Aw, that's great that you got to spend the day with him. I wish we were allowed to stay on my son's first day. He started preschool a few weeks ago, and he walked in and completely forgot about me. Ugh, but it did kill me to see other kids crying and clinging onto their parents.

Not all preschools want you to come on the first day, so you are very fortunate. I'll be the two of you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves.
