Photoshop – My First Attempt

Before I get to today's post, I have to say Thank YOU for all the kind comments on my post yesterday! I really appreciate every single one.

Last weekend, I purchased Photoshop Elements 8. I’ve had a chance to play around with it just a bit. So today, I thought, what better way to show what I’ve done than to link up with Before and After over at Monica’s beautiful blog, Pixel Perfect.

Here is my SOOC shot of my silly Sprout:

And here is my edited shot:

Pretty subtle, but for my first try, I’m happy. I increased the hue and saturation, lightened the midtones, and increased the contrast slightly.

If I knew what I was doing, I would have rotated the pic slightly and removed the dump truck, but that will come in time.

Once I have time to play around more, I want to learn how to load presets/actions, and understand the layering thing. Eventually, I want to figure out how to digital scrapbook too.

So I’ll keep ya all posted on my journey into learning PSE!

I think the yellow truck adds nice color to the whole picture. But that's just me. Of course, I may be jaded because yellow is my favorite color.

God bless you figuring all this out. I'm content just taking pictures. Trying to figure out how to change them would do me in.

well done - the grass looks much greener and more inviting - like the snapshot of your boy - he's a cutie!

G'morn, sweet CM ~ That dump truck is perfect for the photo ... the yellow brings the picture to life with Sprout!

Re yesterday's write. Sweetie, I've written as much as 500 pages of 'my life', so full of events that made me 'tear corners' , 'set aside', 'ponder' my life ... the VERY few who read it said it was funny, sad, happy, interesting ... I threw it away one day & have often regretted doing this. It is a piece of my heart that just cannot be shared other than wee bits & pieces from the heart at the right moment. I loved the way you wrote yesterday ... My English teacher said I should publish my writings ... smaller bits here & there in poetry, I have. It is therapy just to put it down in writing for myself. I do believe we grow from expressing it privately or publicly ... For me, publicly would be exposing myself to a expose that I do not know that I could handle, but each of us has to do what is right for ourselves as we go along.

If you haven't read the blog ... joyful chaos ... please go there. She is one amazing former Amish lady who shares her 'past' so beautifully. A day without her read, is an empty day.

Have a beautiful day ~
TTFN ~ Hugs, Marydon

Wouldn't it be great if we could really photoshop our yards? Just a few clicks and KAZAM green grass to die for! Great job.

I hope you're enjoying PSE8 - it's a great tool. I love when anyone is able to make green grass green. It's really quite challenging, so you've done really well.

I think the truck is fine, but if you wanted to remove it you should check into the cloning tool. It's my fav. I'm sort of playing along too. http://weloveiowa.blogspot.com/2010/08/before-after-for-love-of-black-and.html

Good job! There's quite the learning curve isn't there! I use Gimp and am having fun with it.

Looks great! I am too cheap to buy PS so I've been playing around with GIMP. I know what I want to do with my photos. I just don't know HOW.

I've been out of town for 2 weeks, so I haven't had a chance to catch up yet...I'm about to. Can't wait to read your story!

I have a great DSLR camera Mike bought me last January. I started reading the manual, then in March I all of a sudden (in 2 days) got the symptoms and "came down with" Multiple Schlerosis and my life changed drastically! I've futsed with the camera here and there, and have been thinking about getting a program like photoshop, but I'm such a non-techie person, I'm afraid to! I still don't have the camera all figured out. One step at a time. I'm going to be keeping my eye on you! You may be the inspiration I need... :)

Great job! Very cute picture. And really the dump truck isn't too distracting, especially since he is a boy :)

Great shot CM...I finally figured out my Photoshop too. If you ever figure out how to remove something from the picture, let me know. I'd like to be able to do that too. Someone said the cloning tool, so I may check that out. :)

Oh wow, I love what you did with the picture...ever so subtle, but still I'm impressed! I'd still be trying to figure out the instructions, never mind having actually mastered how to put words onto the photo!
Terrific! Love it! Look forward to seeing more!
