Jogging With Jesus

the Road

I like to jog with Jesus. Not literally, no. But when I need to sort my life out, I leave the ipod behind, set out for a run, and bring Him along with me. For the fun of it, I picture Him running along side me in a robe and sandals. No, I’m not crazy…stick with me here :-)

On one of my runs last weekend while up at the cabin, my heart was heavy with much anxiety. So, I began to ask God for guidance. I asked Him to take away the stress. Instead, for some reason, I felt guided to break down all my worries into parts:

First part – my stress about work. After I vented (in my head, of course) my concerns about my new boss and all the rumors I’ve heard about he/she being a “hard a-s” I felt God say, “What are you worried about, you DO your job and you do it well.” Ok, well, what else?

Second part – feeling guilty about being impatient and yelling sometimes at the kids. I felt God say, “They are 2 and 4. It is normal. Just try to love them up when they are being good.” Ok, well, but wait, there’s more God!

Third part – DH’s stress about his career. I felt God say to give it time and things will get better, they always do. This one especially gave me a peace of mind and I felt God saying, let go of trying to control him or make him feel better. He has to work it out on his own. Weight lifted!

Fourth part – I felt God asking, “Ok, now what about you? What are you doing for YOURSELF?” That took some thought, but then I came back to my hobbies…photography, writing, scrapbooking, and blogging. The idea then popped into my head of setting some “me” time into my schedule.

And before I knew it, my run was over and I felt a lot lighter. A weight had been lifted and I was in a much better mood.

So, the next time you’re stressing out…forget the ipod and go for a walk or run…you never know who might just want to come along!

(Note: The above image is a pic I took of the little country road that leads to the cabin.)

Very inspiring, my friend. This post makes me think of an old hymn, Just a little walk with Jesus. (Not sure if that's the title.) However, you took Him on a little run. It's wonderful how he travels with us.

Great writing.

Of course He was running with you :)

How very cool, and what a neat post. I love thinking and knowing HE is always there at my side and ready and waiting for me to open up to Him.

CM, I hope you like Photoscape. I really like it. I'm thinking about taking Photoshop off of my computer and giving it to someone. I couldn't figure it out to save my life. I loved this post, and your picture is beautiful. Thanks so stopping by my blog!

G'eve, CM ~ I spend my time in the garden or walking when He & I have long chats ... never has He let me down.

You got it all right with Him ... He knows how to lead us & keep us on path, doesn't He.

Love your write, sugar!
Have a lovely weekend ~

I think I need to go jogging then! I'm so anxious for our upcoming move to Czech. It's like eating me inside. I have no patience and everything I say comes out wrong. I will follow your lead on this one! Thanks for sharing. Happy you feel better!

A really inspiring post that has made me feel calm as well! It is so often when you can block the world out that these answers come.

That was so perfect! I have those moments when I drive. I just turn off the radio and reflect.

Excellent post and taking time for yourself is the key. Just like flowers we need to be refreshed to be in touch with our inner self.

I love this. I often picture myself sitting at His feet when I am stressed out or anxious. I wish I let myself be filled with His peace more often!

That is great advice! I love "casting my cares on Him." It's so easy to just let the anxiety build but really we need to learn to go to His arms more....or go take a run with Him. :)
Beautiful picture of the country road.
I love your camping pics- looks like so much fun!

We have a lot in common. I walk, with just a bit of jogging along the way, but I love to take pictures, scrapbook them (I am a SM consultant), and then write about my family. AND I also walk to the sound of Nature; it's so inspiring!

I am retired now but when I had drove to work each morning, I used to pray and talk with Jesus. I liked picturing him riding beside me. So I know you are not crazy! Have a blessed weekend!
