Look what we found…
under our deck!
Just let us finish grilling the turkey burgers and we’ll leave you alone!
Every year, she returns to hatch her babies under our deck. We try so hard not to disturb her. We don’t let the boys out on the deck at all during this time and try to keep off unless we are grilling.
After she flew off the nest, I hurried up and took the top picture. I used a standard zoom lens and focused between the slats of the deck floor. I was so excited to get such a clear shot of her beautiful blue eggs. Then I headed back in before she did a nose dive at me! Of course, I left DH out at the grill to fend for himself!
(BTW, try to ignore the half-done staining job.
One of many things on DH’s “to do” list now that it’s finally nice out!)

ha. yeah i have to restain our deck this year as well. love the blue of the eggs...and cool that she returns...
Wow! You got an AMAZING shot of the eggs through the slats of the deck! Princess Nagger would want to hang out at your house to watch the eggs hatch. ;)
Awesome shot girlie! I cant believe you got that through the slats of the deck...you rock ;)
What will be cool is to get a shot through the slats of the babies.. just sayin. No pressure or anything! lol
Have a great day girlie
What a fabulous shot!!! Great job!! I didn't even notice the deck needed staining. Yup I am that observant!
Lovely pictures. I would have never noticed the stain job...

I honestly never knew they laid blue eggs. What a beautiful picture!
Cool! I just love that color! Last year we had robins nests everywhere in our yard. So many in fact that we could not avoid them. So they had to just get used to us. Boy mama birds get pretty nuts when you get near their eggs/babies!!! I know the feeling :)
Those beautiful little blue eggs!! Love it.
Blessings!

Wow! That was a great shot of her eggs. But you are lucky she didn't catch you. Robins are notorious for nosediving people when you are too close to their nest.
Beautiful pictures of the mama bird too.
And my baby may look tough in the catcher's gear but she's far from it. Actually I guess I can't say that, she loves to be catcher because the ball doesn't hurt her. She just laughs if there is a foul ball and it pops back and hits her.
That shot is amazing!! Great job an glad you didn't get attacked while taking it :)
Are you kidding me? That nest photo is insane! You have such a great eye (and skill)! Well done.
Wow! Those eggs are really beautiful! You'll have to steal another little peek when they hatch and share another photos of the babies!
Sparrows nest in the wreath on our front door every year. We don't use our door during that time.

So cool! I have to say I spent way too long a couple Springs ago watching a birds nest I was boarder line obsessed!
wow thats a great pic and the eggs are so blue!
Amazing picture!! We have a few nests under our deck, but they are too high for me to see in!
Happy WW!!
Beautiful Pictures!
Cool pics! We have a cardinal nesting right outside of our front window with a perfect view of the three eggs into her nest. We are so excited to see them hatch.
Great Photos!
That egg shot is FANTASTIC!
Wow what blue eggs.. I love birds.. Have a great day..
I did not even notice the deck...
Wow! They look so beautiful they don't even look real! ;0) God does good work!
What a cool find! I am glad mom was near by. We had a nest that was abandoned last year.
Really beautiful pictures! I love birds. I bet your boys enjoyed seeing that? I wish I could take pictures like that!
I would have not noticed the stain job. you got a great picture.
Gorgeous pictures- I love the colors on the eggs and the bird. How sweet to look forward to that every year.
What great pictures!! We sometimes get a nest in our pine tree.
Haha about the half stained deck! We powerwashed our last year and it took forever. Ours was multi colored for a long time!!
How cool!! We had a nest under our deck last year too...I;m pretty sure the kids scared them all away though. :)
Absolutely stunning pictures. I thought the first one was a stock photo- I had to go back and look again.
Wow that's incredible. Ah ha dive bom and you left DH out there by himself with the turkey burgers. lol. I think it's funny you should point out the stain job b/c I would have never noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. What a great co-neighbor to have. Beautiful pictures!
I can't believe you got the egg like that from between the slats of your deck. You and your camera make one seriously good team.
Oh, and way to be there for DH, abandoning him to be attacked by Mama bird. :-P
CopMama what beautiful pictures. I have never seen eggs that colour before, so pretty! She is a clever little birdy having her babies under the deck of a policewoman...built in protection...clever little mummy bird!
That's crazy! Those eggs are so blue! They totally look fake! Great shot!!
This post made me very happy. The shot of the eggs is amazing.
How exciting! Looking forward to pictures of the babies.
We have a Mama Robin that comes back every year to the roof on our patio. It's so much fun to watch!
beautiful! I envy you your robins! we don't have robins in my area. :(
Those eggs are beautiful in color. I wish I could find some wildlife around here to photograph besides grey squirrels. =) I love wildlife pics!
