Before and After

SOOC

This is a straight out of the camera shot of my DH and the boys from last fall. Not bad, right? Take a second look at the horizon. Do you see something…um, crooked?

Edited color

Here’s my first edited version. I rotated the picture slightly, cropped it, and upped the color a bit. But, I lost the clouds!

Crop

So here I barely tweaked the color so I could keep the clouds.

Then, I tried black and white. I used Creative Memories Memory Manager 3.0 for editing.

Which photo do YOU like best?

That is such a sweet photo of your DH and sons!!
I like the second edit the best. I like the color of the sky in that one. :)

I like the black and white best, but I am a sucker for B&W! Did you know that you can also copy clouds from another picture and add them to yours?!? I just figured it out in photoshop a few weeks ago!

What a priceless shot! I too love black & white!

I like the 2nd to last right before the B/W one. All in all it is a neat pic with the three short to tallest.

I like the 2nd one. Beautiful picture!

I like the third one best. The b&w seems to be a favorite but the color one captures more of the beauty of the natural setting. Nice pic!

I love the black and white one and the second edit! Don't you hate it when you lose the clouds!

They are all beautiful!

Thank you for linking up. Love your photography!

I like the second and third. I really like how you got the ocean so blue in the second pic, but I agree, you lost the clouds. Maybe you could select just the ocean and bump up the color on that? Or maybe sharpen the clouds so they can be seen a little better. I did that with bubbles one and it worked great!

This is a great shot of your boys! Very pensive, even though you can't see their face!

I love the colors in the second one!

Oh Sweetie...
How beautiful is this? The men in your life. I love it.

I personally love the black and white one. It is just so calming to look at.

You are a wonderful photographer. I so enjoyed my visit and your beautiful photography.

Many thanks for sharing. Country hugs and much love, Sherry

@ Everyone - Ok, now I seriously want Photoshop! I like my little scrapbooking software, but man, you guys have some great tools to use!

Where's the best place to get a deal on Photoshop???

Wow, I'm usually a sucker for B&W, but the the color is really beautiful!!

Very nice. I like black and white best but if I had to choose a color one, I like the third.

Very nice! I just love that photo. And while I had not noticed it was crooked (you know me, I don't have the best eye for photos) once you said that I giggled. Watch out boys, here comes the lake! :)

Nicely done.

Love the shot! And I'd have to say even though you lost clouds, I like the 1st edit - and of course b&w is just so sweet w/ daddy and his boys!

Maybe it's just the setting on my computer, but I can actually see the clouds better in your first edit than in the second, or even the straight out of the camera shot. I'm a full on color person, so while the black and white is cute, I'll always choose color first.

I love the black and white one but I have always loved black and white pictures.

The original picture was good even though it was slanted.

What a sweet moment to capture! I love the black and white, but they're all great! :D

What a sweet picture! I loved the color in the first edit, and honestly wouldn't have noticed that the clouds were missing if you hadn't pointed it out.

I use Photoshop Elements and if I remember correctly, we got it from a verfied seller on ebay for about $50. You can download a free 30 day trial of any Adobe product from the Adobe website. Gimp is a free photo editing software, and I believe it has most of the same capabilities of Photoshop. Jamie at Mommy's Camera www.mommyscamera.com has some great Gimp tutorials.

I love the black and white picture!

I like the second one the best. I prefer color to black and white, usually.

Love the second one! What a great moment to capture!

I bought mine from the Adobe website after downloading the 30 day free trial. Elements 7 is about $120 at full price, but I bought it at the educational price for $70 since my husband was in college at the time. But, they also said the education price was good for any student in Kindergarten through College. Why a kindergartener would need PSE is beyond me, but I suppose if it helps get a discount!

I think they're all great edits. It is a super cute picture to begin with. Love their little hats.

I'm always a sucker for B&W, but when you have clouds and water in the photo you have to go with color.
