Ever get shot with a simulated bullet, feel the sting, and still want to go back for more?
Stick with me, I'll explain how this is connected to:

I'm joining in on "Truthful Tuesdays" over at Confessions from a Working Mom. This week, the question is:
What's the best excuse you ever used to get out of an obligation like work, school, or chores... And did you get away with it?
What's the best excuse you ever used to get out of an obligation like work, school, or chores... And did you get away with it?
Three years ago, I was assigned to the Training Unit in the police department. I was so excited to work with my FIRST academy class. For one week during the academy, we bring the recruits to a military base for intensive practical training, agility/confidence course and firearms qualifications. In the cop world, it ROCKS!
That's why when it came time for the SECOND academy class to head to the base, I was totally bummed I couldn't go! My excuse? I was pregnant with Cubbie!
Obviously, my midwife would not be too happy seeing me walking across that beam twenty feet in the air.
But the main reason I couldn't even step foot on the base? The lead. It's just not safe for pregnant women to be around any type of ammunition or firing range due to the exposure to lead.
So, that's my excuse. And yes, I got away with it because, well, the proof was in my big ol' baby belly!
So what's the best excuse YOU have ever used to get out of an obligation? Blog about it and head over to Elizabeth's blog to link up, or just leave a comment here!

I got a flat tire and told my boss it took me all day to get it fixed...
I had other plans.. Have a great day.
I'd say thats a good excuse for you. Happy Tuesday!
That sounds like a really good excuse to me!
I get away with never having to give blood. Why? Well I had open heart surgery so they won't take my blood. Pretty nice eh?
I'm sure I've come up with a few good ones in my time but for the life of me I cannot think of one!!!! Of course the kids are sick is always a reliable stand by!! Heehee!
I can't think of anything either, sheesh. I'm just going to use the excuse "I forgot"!since I can't seem to remember anything anyways!
sounds like a good excuse to me! I was trying to think of one myself but I cant really think of a good one I have used?!? Bummer!
Happy Tuesday girl.
Going to answer you back in the comments section on my blog about the comment you left earlier ;)
On the day of my dispatching inverview, one of my kids was sick but I had enough time to get her to the doctor and still make it to the interview. She was puking a lot. Take her to the pediatrician, get out and there's a nail in my tire, but it's holding. Drive around the corner to my MIL's house to drop said sick kid off so I could get to the interview, but said MIL wasn't home, she was out visiting family! That was a terrible time! Needless to say...I didn't make it to the interview! Went through all the testing already, and came up short of the interview! Except I didn't want any excuses...I wanted to be there.
Ummm I say that is about the best excuse ever!!
In my current position as "mommy" no excuse works! : (
Sounds like a pretty good excuse to me! I don't have excuses nearly as good as that one...so I just make up lame ones when I don't want to do stuff. :)
Good question. I can't think of anything right now, but I'm sure I have lots of good ones.

Thanks for playing along today!
You are right, pregnancy is the be all and END ALL of excuses-- how would any person in their right mind try to fight with a hormonally-imbalanced woman?

That's a bummer you had to miss out on that, but that is the best excuse at all. No second guessing.

That IS a good excuse...but I didn't realize that ammunition qualified for lead exposure. That is quite interesting. The hubs wanted to take me shooting while I was preggo, but I said no because of the noise...I never even thought of the bullets!

You are incredible! I would be scared out of my mind!
I would definitely say you got away with that one.
I try to follow through with all of my obligations. If for some reason I can't, there is an extremely good reason and it is beyond my control. I know that as a Christian woman I have to set an example (no matter if I want to at the time or not), so I go through with what I have said I will do. My word is my honor. And boy does that philosophy STINK some times. lol.
Good excuse to me! -
We use the weather as an excuse sometimes - which is actually true too. Like if it's snowing and we're supposed to go to my MIL house we'll postpone it. That's all I can think of for now.
Thanks stopping by my blog :)
Yeah, being pregnant got me out of a lot of things too!
Your my hero-- I always wanted to be a Police Officer- I pray our Lord protects and guides you always :)
Thanks so much for all your beautiful comments :)
God Bless
Being pregnant has its advantages and disadvantages! It did get me out of going skiing with my husband...I'm scared of heights!
That is n o excuse, that is a reason :).
Don't have an answer right now, I am sure it will come to me soon.
Well that beats all I'd say! Better than any I've had seing as how I was out of the corporate world when I became pregnant.
